Birmingham has been selected as the host city for the 2023 trampoline, tumbling and DMT world championships.
The decision was made by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) at its executive meeting, following a combined bid between British Gymnastics, Birmingham City Council and UK Sport.
The world championships will be the last before the Paris 2024 Olympics, acting as a major qualifying event for the Games and it will be the first major sports event in the city following the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
The event will take place on 9-12 November, and will be held at Arena, Birmingham, which staged the 2011 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships.
The championships will also include the World Age Group competitions on 16-19 November which will bring together the world’s best up-and-coming trampoline, tumbling and double-mini trampoline gymnasts to the city.

“These World Championships will help us to promote gymnastics and in particular trampoline and tumbling in the UK to inspire the next generation of gymnasts.

The 2023 world championships for artistic gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics were given to Belgium and Spain respectively.
Antwerp in Belgium will host the 52nd artistic gymnastics world championships, having held the first edition in 1903.
It will be held in Sportpaleis in late September or early October 2023.
“On the back of the fantastic results obtained by Belgian gymnasts at the world championships in Doha, we are ready to organise a top-class world championships in the birthplace of Nicolas Cupérus, the founder and first president of the International Gymnastics Federation,” said Lode Grossen, general director of the Royal Belgian Gymnastics Federation.
The 40th rhythmic gymnastics world championships will be held in Valencia for the first time, on 4-10 September 2023.
“Rhythmic gymnastics is the sport with most female participants in Spain,” said Jesus Carballo, President of the Royal Spanish Gymnastics Federation.
“This discipline produces a lot of passion and emotion, as we’ve seen at different championships and world cups and we’re convinced these world championships will be a great success with the public.”
Earlier this week, the FIG Executive Committee had named the host cities for events in two other disciplines.
The 16th aerobic gymnastics world championships to be staged from 14-16 May 2020 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The 4th world gym for life challenge will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 13-17 July 2021.
