Russia’s Angelina MELNIKOVA is a top medal prospect on the final day of the women’s gymnastics competition at the SSE Hydro on Sunday.
MELNIKOVA, who has already won team gold, features in three of the four apparatus finals – vault, uneven bars and floor.
The first final is the vault and MELNIKOVA will be up against defending champion Coline DEVILLARD (FRA) and top qualifier Boglarka DEVAI (HUN).
On uneven bars, she faces defending champion Nina DERWAEL (BEL), who plans to upgrade her routine from qualifications.
DERWAEL also competes in the beam final, for which she was the top qualifier, but 2017 world champion Pauline SCHAEFER (GER) and 2016 Olympic champion Sanne WEVERS (NED) will want to topple her from that position.
In the fourth final, floor, it will most likely be a duel between MELNIKOVA and Melanie DE JESUS (FRA), who both have high difficulty content. The result will come down to whoever lands their tumbles most expertly.
There is a junior apparatus finals in the morning which is likely to be dominated by gymnasts from Italy, Russia, Great Britain and Romania.
The juniors compete at 10:00 and the seniors at 14:30.
